Industrial Corrosion Control: anti-corrosion builds a family business
In just 15 months, Ceanne and Chad Lamont have built a fast-growing business set to make its mark in the coatings and anti-corrosion industry.
Drawing on extensive technical experience gained across diverse industries, Industrial Corrosion Control (ICC) is delivering consistently high-quality tradecraft and service. Their commitment to excellence positions the business as a strong competitor to major players in the industry.
ICC protects valuable assets against the elements, safeguarding against corrosion.
With tailored solutions that ensure maximum durability, they are reducing maintenance costs for businesses and extending the life of the assets.
From renewable energy projects supporting sustainability to major infrastructure and construction, ICC specialises in NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers)-certified surface protective coatings and abrasive sandblasting.
The business is equipped to handle all job sizes, from offshore oil and gas and port and logistics terminals to community projects or shopping centre upgrades that require industrial coatings applications.
A proudly family-owned business, ICC is led by Company Director Chad Lamont and Managing Director Ceanne Lamont – a formidable partnership driven by a shared vision for stability and opportunity for their family.
An early indication that they had made the right decision came in the form of a relatively small but high-profile project: the new home of the Hawthorn (Hawks) AFL club at the Kennedy Community Centre at Dingley Village.
ICC were engaged to prepare steel structures and apply industrial coatings and intumescent fire protection systems across the 28-hectare site.
Ceanne Lamont reflects that it was tough leaving paid employment and striking out on their own but knew it was the best for them at the time.
"We knew from our experience at jobs all over Australia that we had the skills to succeed if we gave it a go."
“Soon after establishing the business, we commenced the process of Supply Nation certification. We knew that accreditation would expand opportunities for us and we were really excited when it came through.”
The Lamonts also credit Many Rivers, a for-purpose organisation offering microenterprise start-up loans, as instrumental in their start-up journey.
“Many Rivers walked with us from the very beginning, helping shape our business plan, strengthening our systems and supporting our growth.
“With their ongoing guidance, we’ve been able to navigate challenges with confidence. They have been truly instrumental in helping us get to where we are today”, Ceanne said.
Chad adds that persistence was essential: “There was lot of knocking on doors, cold calling and frankly a lot of knockbacks despite our experience. Values are important and we don’t want to work for businesses if there are other agendas at play.”
ICC stands for the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental responsibility.
Integrity and cultural respect underpin every project the business undertakes. Their work not only protects critical assets but also creates opportunities that support a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Their new partnership with TW Woods – specialists in fabrication and heavy engineering – further expands ICC’s capability to deliver larger and more more complex projects.
With a nationwide shortage of skilled workers in the industry, Chad and Ceanne are already planning ahead.
“Our next big step is a training program, that’s where we can make real change with our family, our Mob and of course other Mobs we can bring in. Build the training program to get young people learning skills, bring them in, teach them and build up the team from scratch. That’s the dream,” said Ceanne.
