Supply Nation appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Laura Berry CEO

5 May 2015

Supply Nation has appointed Ms Laura Berry as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 20 May 2015.

Supply Nation Chair Leah Armstrong said Ms Berry’s extensive experience in Indigenous affairs and impressive career spanning both the private and public sectors made her the ideal candidate to drive the organisation’s future growth.

“In the six years since it was established, Supply Nation has led the supplier diversity agenda across the country,” Ms Armstrong said.

“With Laura at the helm, Supply Nation will continue to drive the growth of the Indigenous business sector in Australia at an important phase for the organisation”.

Ms Berry, who is of Aboriginal and Italian heritage, has been a Director of Supply Nation since December 2013, having been involved with the organisation since its inception through her work with two founding member companies, Leighton Holdings and Qantas.

She will step down from the Board to assume the CEO role. Ms Berry is currently Head of Community, Arts & Ambassadors at Qantas where she has led the development and implementation of the Qantas Reconciliation programs and managed partnerships across a range of Indigenous community organisations.

She is also Chair of CareerTrackers Indigenous Internship Program and a former director of Engineering Aid Australia.

“I am excited and honoured to take on the role through an exciting period of transition and look forward to building on Supply Nation’s success,” Ms Berry said.

“I am passionately committed to supplier diversity and to working with the government, our members and suppliers and our partner organisations to build upon Supply Nation’s success to date and to contribute to the economic sustainability of the Indigenous business sector.

"With 176 members, 376 suppliers and the federal government’s recently announced target for 3 per cent of all Commonwealth procurement contracts to be awarded to Indigenous suppliers, Supply Nation is well placed to achieve significant growth and I’m excited to be a part of it,” she concluded.

On July 1st Supply Nation will launch the National Indigenous Business Directory to the public. We encourage all stakeholders to help us spread the word to potential Indigenous businesses. Visithttp://www.supplynation.org.au/apply for further information.
