Media Release: Ministerial announcements from Federal Government
The Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council (AIMSC) welcomes the Australian Governments announcements on Saturday of the new ministerial appointments. AIMSC welcomes back, the Honourable Jenny Macklin as the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. AIMSC also congratulates the Honourable Mark Arbib on his appointment in the role of Minister for Indigenous Employment and Economic Development, Sport, Social Housing and Homelessness. AIMSC particularly welcomes the creation of the Indigenous Employment and Economic Development portfolio.
AIMSC has worked constructively with both Ministers and their teams during the previous Government term and looks forward to building on this work.
AIMSC is funded on a three year pilot basis by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. Our sole mission is to Close The Gap on Indigenous disadvantage by creating demand for goods and services provided by Indigenous owned, controlled and managed companies. Since its launch on 15 September 2009 AIMSC members and suppliers have reported over $1.256m in transactions and $3.95m in contracts signed.
AIMSC looks forward to working with Minister Macklin and Minister Arbib over the next three years to continue the growth of Indigenous businesses.
