A very happy New Year to all of our Members, Certified Suppliers and additional subscribers to our newsletter. We hope you have had a pleasant and relaxing festive break.
Here at Supply Nation we are excited for a busy and productive year in 2014. As the performance results for Supply Nation's second quarter of the fifth year demonstates, 2013 concluded on an extremely positive note for the organisation.
We anticipate that 2014 will be a year of continued growth and development for the Supply Nation team and our valued Members and Certified Suppliers.
We intend to continue our promotion and enhancement of the supplier diversity message. Our goal is to see supplier diversity embedded into the foundations of corporate and government organisations across the country.
Also on our agenda is the engagement and development of a strong relationship with the new Federal government.
Our first initiative to achieve this will see Supply Nation partner with the Business Council of Australia (BCA) to host a lunch for Federal Ministers at Parliament House, Canberra on February 12th.
Another highlight in 2014 promises to be our annual Connect event, taking place in Sydney on May 26-27th. Early Bird prices are available until March 21st or until such point as capacity is reached.

Connect 2014 is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best yet. Taking place in Sydney on May 26th-27th, the theme of Connect 2014 is 'Leading Change in Business.'
We are delighted to have confirmed the Australian Turf Club’s newly refurbished Royal Randwick Racecourse Grandstand as the venue for the Conference and Tradeshow, taking place on May 26th and 27th respectively.
The black tie Gala Dinner Awards Night will close Connect 2014 in style, taking place at Sydney's historic Town Hall on the evening of May 27th.
Nominations for Supply Nation's annual Supplier Diversity Awards will open on February 3rd 2014. The awards pay the highest recognition to companies, government agencies and individuals who strive to grow Indigenous business and enterprise.

Supply Nation's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Business Council of Australia (BCA)
Supply Nation and the Business Council of Australia (BCA) share a mutual goal of achieving a thriving, growing Indigenous business sector for our communities, economy and our future.
By coming together in a collaborative partnership, the two organisations will have an opportunity to forge new links and strengthen existing ties between mainstream industries and Indigenous enterprises, ultimately driving greater Indigenous economic engagement.
We will keep you informed as Supply Nation and the BCA explore joint projects evaluating the business and community benefits of supplier diversity.

Parliamentary Luncheon, Canberra
The MOU between Supply Nation and the BCA will be officially launched at a VIP luncheon set to take place at Parliament House on Capital Hill, Canberra on Wednesday, February 12th 2014.
In addition to launching the MOU, the invitation only event aims to provide the newly elected Federal government with an overview of Supply Nation's work.
Guests confirmed to attend include: Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, The Hon Alan Tudge MP; The United States Ambassador to Australia, John Berry; Minister for Small Business, The Hon Bruce Billson MP, who is attending on behalf of Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry, The Hon Bob Baldwin.
Supply Nation's Board Members, Supply Nation CEO Charles Prouse and BCA CEO Jennifer Westacott will also be in attendance.
NAB Procurement Workshops for Certified Suppliers
Supply Nation is pleased to announce that the National Australia Bank (NAB) will host a series of Procurement Workshops for Certified Suppliers at locations across Australia in 2014.
The complimentary events enable Supply Nation Certified Suppliers to develop an understanding of the procurement profession and procurement cycles.
We encourage our Certified Suppliers across the country to avail of this hugely valuable opportunity by registering to attend a workshop near you.
Representatives from the NAB team will visit local offices in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney over the coming months.

Supply Nation's Delegation to San Antonio, Texas
A Supply Nation delegation of 35 people from Australia travelled to San Antonio, Texas last quarter, where they attended our US sister council, the National Minority Supplier Devlopment Council's (NMSDC) Annual Business Opportunity Fair and Conference from October 27th-30th.
The group was comprised of Supply Nation staff, Members and Certified Suppliers. They joined over 7,000 people from a mix of Fortune 500 companies, minority business and academia at the three day event.
The 2014 NMSDC Conference and Business Opportunity Fair has been confirmed to take place in Orlando, Florida from November 2-5th.
Supply Nation's 'End of Year' Board Dinner
Supply Nation, in conjunction with Member organisation, Compass Group, hosted a special 'End of Year' dinner for Board Members and Supply Nation affiliates on December 9th 2013.
The event took place at Compass Group's Sydney offices, where invited guests enjoyed a spectacular Indigenous inspired menu.
On the night, outgoing Board Members: Anthony Hollis and Leah Armstrong and former Board Member Dug Russell, were each presented with a custom made glass Boomerang, created by Supply Nation Certified Supplier Wathaurong Glass.
Details of four new incoming Board Members were also announced at the dinner.
The new additions will include Michael Mcleod, CEO of Message Stick Communications and a founding Member of Supply Nation; Laura Berry, Head of Community at Qantas; Roger Allen, Director of Patagorang Investments and Shane Jacobs, Director of Pacific Services Group Holdings.
They join Supply Nation's current Board Members; Stephen Roberts, Board Chair and CEO at Citibank, Gavin Bell, CEO at Freehills, Elizabeth Broderick, Sex Discrimination Commissioner and George Misfud, Director of Human Resources at Compass Group, all of whom were in attendance.
Prime Minister, Mr Tony Abbott sent his best wishes to guests attending the dinner via letter.
The letter was read by Warren Mundine, Chair of the Indigenous Advisory Council and an advocate of supplier diversity in Australia.
Also in attendance was Indigenous AFL player Adam Goodes, one of the key players with the Sydney Swans.
Supply Nation's 2013/14 networking events
Supply Nation finished 2013 in style, hosting a series of networking functions for our Members, Certified Suppliers and additional stakeholders.
On December 12th 2013, Supply Nation Member Accenture provided its Pyrmont based offices in Sydney as the venue for a special networking lunch overlooking Darling Harbour.
Meanwhile, in Perth, local Supply Nation stakeholders enjoyed a cocktails and canapes function on the evening of December 12th.
The Supply Nation events team is already in the process of planning a series of networking functions across Australia in 2014.

Certified Suppliers - Get ahead of your Competitors
Supply Nation will host a live webinar for Certified Suppliers on February 13th 2014, providing information on the Australian government's contracting process.
Attendees will learn which contracts are coming up for release and who to contact before they go to market.
The webinar will be facilitated by Natalie Walker, Founder and Director of Inside Policy and former CEO at Supply Nation.
Registrations will open shortly and will be on a first come, first served basis.
Apply for the 2014 MURRA Indigenous Business Masterclass Program
Applications for the 2014 MURRA Indigenous Business Masterclass program are now open.
The program is designed for Indigenous entrepreneurs and senior executives who want to take their businesses to the next level. MURRA equips participants with skills in areas such as Marketing, Strategy, Finance, Human Resources, Leadership and Negotiations.
The program is delivered by the Melbourne Business School and Supply Nation is a partner of the program.
Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) has confirmed their sponsorship of travel and accommodation to enable the participation of remotely based candidates.
The next intake of applicants is on March 27th in Melbourne and applications will close at the end of February 2014.

Featured Not-for-Profit organisation : First Hand Solutions
First Hand Solutions Aboriginal Corporation is a charity and social enterprise. Its aim is to find hands on solutions for issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The organisation specialises in developing and implementing cultural reconnection and educational based programs and services for Indigenous people with a focus on Indigenous youth.
Their unique approach is reflected in their First Hand social enterprise which is a series of Aboriginal cultural workshops, tours and markets run from Bare Island, La Perouse on the first Sunday of every month.
